Misha Schubert, Chief Executive Officer

Misha Schubert is CEO of the new Super Members Council. Misha’s career has combined deep expertise in public policy debates and policy advocacy, executive leadership, board directorships and governance, Government relations, member and stakeholder engagement, speechwriting, communications and journalism. She is an AICD-qualified Board Director. She previously worked as CEO of peak industry body Science & Technology Australia and in senior executive roles in the not-for-profit sector and for major media outlets including The Australian, The Age, the Sunday Age, commercial radio and the ABC.



Georgia Brumby, Executive General Manager Advocacy

Georgia leads the development of high-impact strategies, bringing together research, data, public relations, digital, government relations and stakeholder engagement, to advocate for the millions of Australians earning super during their life and benefiting from it in retirement. Prior to joining SMC, Georgia was the Director of Advocacy, Corporate Affairs and Strategy at Industry Super Australia. Before working in superannuation, Georgia spent a decade working in state and federal government in a range of media, communications, and strategy roles, including most recently in the Office of the Premier of Victoria, as Deputy Director of Media. Georgia has a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Communications from RMIT and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jo McNaughton, Executive General Manager Operations

Jo is an accomplished executive with 20+ years’ experience in corporate operational, governance, human resource and administration capability.  Working closely with the CEO, Jo leads the implementation of SMC’s finance, operations and people management strategies and processes that efficiently and effectively deliver business outcomes that drive SMC’s success.  Jo is also Company Secretary to the SMC Board and appointed Committees. Jo is an Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Graduate.  Prior to this role, Jo held key operational, governance and administrative roles at Industry Super Australia.

Matt Linden, Executive General Manager Strategy

Based in Canberra, Matt is responsible for evaluating the constantly changing environment in super and identifying strategies and value creating activities across the organisation to enhance and protect the retirement savings of members. Working closely with the CEO and SMC’s policy, advocacy, and business operations teams, Matt helps ensure SMC is focused and impactful in securing a better retirement for millions of Australians. Matt has traversed the intersection between policy, politics, and public affairs over the past 25 years as a senior treasury official, economic adviser to a former Treasurer, and in superannuation heading Industry Super Australia’s Canberra office. Matt’s tertiary studies include a BSc, Master of Public Policy, and, more recently, executive management and finance specialisations from Harvard Business School.  Matt is also a graduate of the Royal Military College (RMC) Duntroon.



Mel Birks, Executive General Manager Policy

As Executive General Manager, Policy Mel works closely with SMC member funds, regulators and government on policy issues. Mel is passionate about delivering benefits to members, with a particular focus on improving women’s retirement outcomes. Prior to joining the Super Members Council Mel was Deputy CEO and General Manager of Advocacy at AIST.  She has also held senior roles in stakeholder relations, strategy, marketing and communications across major industry funds, administrators and ASIC. Mel was also on the Victorian Committee of Women in Super for six years as Chair and Deputy Chair until 2020 when she joined the Mother’s Day Classic Foundation board in late 2020 as a director. She has been volunteering for the event since 2004. She has a BSc from the University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology from Monash University and a MBA from Deakin University and has successfully completed the Advanced Leadership Program run by Women & Leadership Australia.
