More teen workers are missing out on super because of an outdates rule that excludes under-18 workers from super if they work part-time.

Under this outdated law, workers under 18 are only guaranteed super if they work more than 30 hours a week for a single employer.

Axing this discriminatory exclusion would boost the super of over half a million of Australia’s youngest workers every year, meaning $11,000 more at retirement for the typical young worker.

Young women are more likely to work part-time, meaning they are missing out more.
